Episode: Cooking With Kids

Burgers:

1 large shallot, finely chopped (1/4 cup)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 1/2 pounds ground turkey (not labeled ';all breast meat';)

5 ounces extra-sharp Cheddar, cut into 4 (1/2-inch-thick) slices

4 hamburger or Kaiser rolls

Mayonnaise:

1/4 cup oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, drained

1 tablespoon water

2 tablespoons cider vinegar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup mayonnaise

Accompaniment: lettuce leaves

To make the burgers: Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cook shallot in oil with salt and pepper in an 8-inch skillet over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, until golden, 2 to 3 minutes, then transfer to a bowl. Add turkey and mix gently but thoroughly.

Turn out turkey mixture onto a sheet of waxed paper and divide into 8 equal mounds. Pat 1 mound into a 4-inch patty and top with 1 piece of cheese, then put a second mound on top, patting it onto the other patty to seal and shape into a single patty.

Heat an oiled well-seasoned ridged grill pan over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking, then grill burgers, turning over once, until just cooked through (no longer pink), 8 to 9 minutes total.

While burgers are cooking, heat rolls on a baking sheet in the oven until crusty, about 5 minutes. Transfer rolls to a rack to cool slightly.

To make the mayonnaise and assemble the burgers: Puree the tomatoes with water, vinegar and salt in a blender or mini food processor, scraping down the sides as necessary, then blend in the mayonnaise.

Cut the rolls in half horizontally (if necessary) and spread cut sides with tomato mayonnaise. Serve burgers on rolls with lettuce.
Since you want simple, here you go....

Ground turkey (get a good name brand, some of the less expensive types have hard pieces of cartilage in them and have unpleasant textures)

salt, pepper, garlic powder, soy sauce

Shape the meat into patties. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic and soy sauce. Saute in pan with a bit of olive oil preheated on medium heat. Don't forget to season the backside once you get the first seasoned side down in the pan. Flip when they are half cooked and finish up the other side. Do NOT press down on teh patties as they cook or all the juices will run out and you'll have dry burgers. During the last minute of cooking, top each burger with a slice of your favorite cheese. Serve on buns with your favorite toppings :)
Honestly, just cook a turkey. The longer the better(but dont burn it) use lots and lots of garlic..yes it smells bad(to some) while its cooking but it doesnt taste nearly as strong and its very good for you.use lots of onion, some pepper, parsely, turkey seasoning if you want...put it in a roaster fill it half ways with water, squeeze some soya sauce in it until water turns brown...take the turkey out have a meal with it and whatever is left over cut up and use for your burgers....make the gravy from the water left in the roaster after the turkey is done..put some onion soup mix into it....put flour and water in a jar....shake it up reallllly good so you dont get clumps...put roaster on stove top and boil the water...pour flour/water mix SLOWLY into boiling water while stirring constantly....when it reaches the right thickness take it off....thats how i make turkey and gravy and if there is any of those left over i always make turkey burgers :D YUMMMMM im hungry now
