Any recipe you have for ground beef can be used for ground turkey. Personally, I like to use it in chili - with lots of beans, it becomes a low fat, high fibre meal.
First off good for you on the diet~ new lifestyle change instead of diet?? At least that is what we are on!
We have had turkey meatballs and they were delicious I found ther recipe from Rachael Rays site - you can get lost in there!
Rachaelray.com should link you to a ton of her recipes that are ground turkey or chicken (the same for the recipe search) Good luck!
GROUND TURKEY %26amp; STUFFING ROLL-UP
1 - 1 1/2 lbs. ground turkey
Mushroom and Onion Stove Top Stuffing
1 can mushroom soup
1/2 cup water
Roll turkey out on wax paper in a rectangle shape, 8 x 12 inches. Prepare stuffing.
Place on top of turkey, an inch from the end. Flatten down.
Roll the meat and stuffing up like a jelly roll, using the wax paper to keep it together. Pull waxed paper off as you are rolling.
Pinch the ends to seal it then pat together.
Place in pan and bake for 1 hour at 350掳F.
Make the sauce with soup and water. Pour sauce over during the last 15 minutes.
Stuffed Turkey Burgers
1 1/4 pounds lean ground turkey breast
1/2 cup chopped roasted red peppers
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/4 teaspoons salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Divide turkey into 4 equal sized rounds. Make 2 equal sized patties out of each round so you have 8 patties total. Sprinkle 4 of the patties with 2 tablespoons red peppers and cheese, and top with remaining patties, working the turkey around the edges to seal burgers closed. Season with salt and a few grinds of pepper. Grill or broil until cooked through, about 5 minutes per side.
Turkey Paprikash (Rachael Ray)
1/2 pound elbow macaroni
Salt
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, 1 turn of the pan
1 tablespoon butter
1 package, 1 1/3 pounds average weight, ground lean white turkey
2 to 3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
2 tablespoons sweet paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried marjoram
Black pepper
1 cup chicken stock, available in small 8 ounce paper containers on soup aisle of market
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons chopped flat-leaf parsley
2 tablespoons chopped dill
Bring a pot of water to boil for pasta. When it comes to a boil, add pasta and salt to season the cooking water. Cook pasta 6 minutes to al dente.
While water comes to a boil and pasta cooks, heat a deep skillet over medium high heat. Add extra-virgin olive oil then butter then ground meat. Break up meat and crumble, 2 to 3 minutes. Add garlic, onions, red bell peppers and seasonings to the turkey. Cook 5 or 6 minutes then add chicken stock and sour cream to the pan. Bring to a bubble and reduce heat to low. Add cooked pasta and stir. Let pasta absorb some sauce, a minute or so. Adjust seasonings and serve. Garnish the prepared dish with chopped parsley.
I have tried ground turkey burgers with mozzarella cheese and roasted red peppers. It's really good. Also, try putting some spicy mustard
You don't need to do a thing to it, you can use it just like hamburger, EXCEPT for burgers we mix one egg in to help it hold together better, and you cook them on a lower heat, takes a little longer but they turn out nice.
I use it everywhere I used to use hamburger, and it tastes great in everything.
on toast
I'd try www.rachaelray.com and www.allrecipes.com. I made chicken noodle soup with ground turkey breast instead of the chicken and it was really pretty good!
